The past few weeks have been particularly tough for Ukraine. In November alone, Russia sent over 2,000 drones into Ukraine. Entire nights were marked by attacks on cities, with some assaults lasting up to eight hours. The new EU leaders visited Kyiv, and the chancellor pledged an additional 600 million euros in aid. The secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu, appealed to the West to swiftly begin negotiations on Ukraine’s future in order to prevent the “annihilation” of the civilian population there…

The situation in Kyiv is desperate. In recent days, Russian attacks have caused severe damage. Last Monday, the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital, the largest of its kind in Ukraine, was hit. At least 30 people died, including four children. Another 117 people, including children, were injured. Residential buildings in cities such as Kryvyi Rih and Pokrovsk were also hit. A major power supplier near Kyiv was heavily damaged as well, further exacerbating the city’s energy supply issues.

Over 60 individuals from the fields of photography, performing arts, literature, music, and theater were reached out to and interviewed, which has provided us with valuable insights and contacts within the scene. During the winter, supply difficulties wreaked havoc; focused work in Kyiv was out of the question. Our helpers, projects, and employees were consumed with their personal lives and survival. At the beginning of the year, Andrii left us, and with him, a crucial employee and contact person within the scene; traveling to Ukraine personally remained out of the question.
