Europe, take the lead!

Scandal in the Oval Office / Musk’s clear-cutting of USAID aid / UAHP continues to grow/ Neuroflex is on board / Is the sleeping giant Europe awakening?

#Neuroflex #war #UAHP

With great concern, I am observing the current developments in Ukraine and on the international stage. What was planned as a meeting to sign a raw materials agreement between Zelensky and Trump escalated in front of rolling cameras into a dispute during which Trump openly questioned U.S. support for Ukraine before the assembled world press. Additionally, Elon Musk, with his “chainsaw” clear-cutting of USAID aid, has significantly hindered access to support for Ukraine, which, with over 37 billion dollars, is the largest recipient of aid. These funds flow into nearly all areas of public life and are crucial for emergency responders and the reconstruction of infrastructure destroyed by Russian attacks. >>Articleabout it.

“… all my activities are directly affected, 800 doctors who were supposed to receive psychological support will not get it, and our organization will also not receive the institutional support that was planned; we are facing nothing.”

– Oleksandra Balyasna, co-founder of Early Birds Ukrainian Preemie Parent Association (good friend)

After these turbulent, historic days, no one put it more succinctly than EU Foreign Affairs Representative Kaja Kallas when she said: “Trump’s statements clearly show that the free world needs a new leader. It is up to Europe to take on this challenge.”

And Donald Tusk also summed it up on March 13 after an EU summit in Warsaw: “500 million Europeans are begging 300 million Americans to protect them from 140 million Russians who, for three years, have been unable to defeat 40 million Ukrainians.” We are so much more than we think, and we can make a difference. It’s time, Europe. It’s important that we take responsibility and move forward.

UKRAINE ARTIST HEALTH PROGRAM (UAHP) CONTINUES TO GROW

I am pleased to report that the Ukraine Artist Health Program (UAHP) is growing. The test phase ends on March 31. Two female artists were able to successfully complete their treatment in our program and expressed profound gratitude for the support. I may quote one artist who is leaving the test phase: “This support was my anchor in a storm. Knowing that I am not alone gave me the strength to keep going. Thank you, thank you for believing in us.”

You can’t make this stuff up… On February 24, 2025, the WHO writes a >>Article about the mental health of Ukrainians: 46% of them suffer from mental health issues, including anxiety disorders and post-traumatic stress. Olha Schwet, a philosopher from Lviv, describes the situation as “living from day to day” – a mix of resilience and exhaustion that the term “war fatigue” does not fully capture.

WELCOME NEUROFLEX!

>>Neuroflex has learned about our initiative and is joining as a provider! Neuroflex, founded in 2017, is an innovative and highly professional service provider in the field of mental health. With a team of over 50 specialists – including psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, and psychotherapists – Neuroflex offers comprehensive care both on-site in Kyiv and digitally throughout the country. The services include diagnostics, therapy, and psychiatric care at a European level. A key advantage is that Neuroflex can also prescribe medications – an important component that we have been missing until now.

WHAT’S NEXT?

We will soon go public and want to solidify our collaboration with Nebaiduzhe and Neuroflex in a sustainable way to provide reliable and professional support that truly makes a difference. Once the program is running smoothly, everyone is pulling together reliably, and we can better assess the demand, we plan to apply for funding or secure a partner or foundation in Germany to further expand our offerings. If any of you have contacts or ideas regarding this, please get in touch with me.

I would like to make more artists connected with Art Crossing Borders aware of our offer and, to that end, move into a new phase of public relations work. My goal is to disseminate information about the program to educational institutions and event venues and to establish new contacts.
